Nancy Stone Streett
Artist & educator, Nancy Stone Streett has been teaching and painting in the Mississippi Delta since 1996. She has been included in shows at the Greenville Arts Council, the Jean Abrams Gallery at Mississippi Delta Community College and the Mississippi Valley State University Gallery. The Montana native has served as a juror for several shows in the south and has been involved with local arts organizations in both Mississippi and her native state. Nancy has given painting demonstrations and workshops since 1970. She holds a BA in Art from Montana State University in Bozeman and received her Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana.
After moving to Mississippi, she landed her dream job as a faculty member at Mississippi Delta Community College where she teaches Drawing, Design, Art Appreciation and Painting. In 2004 she was honored by the school with the Humanities Teacher of the Year Award. She has also been named in “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers,” Who’s Who in America,” and “Who’s Who in Education.”
Nancy’s studio work reflects much of what is happening in the classroom and her most recent paintings, drawings & prints are dominated with an undercurrent of bold, linear design and intense color. “Art is a celebratory experience for me. My inspiration begins with personal memories and references; but I work toward a universal image which may resonate with the viewer.”
